About

Hi I’m Grace!  Thanks for visiting!  I grew up in Pittsburgh and have lived a few different places but recently bought my first house and put down roots in Kansas City.  I live there with my amazing supportive husband and goofy, high-energy  chocolate lab.  I’m an engineer by day and dog-mom by night.

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 10, the summer after fourth grade.  I did injections for a few years and went on my first insulin pump in 2000.  I never looked back after that.

I tried the original Medtronic continuous glucose monitor in 2010 when I was training for my first half-marathon.  I used it a few times, but hated it for so many reasons – one being it was painful.  I’ve heard Medtronic reps call that model “the harpoon”.

Luckily, Medtronic created a new version, and I’ve been using my Enlite CGM regularly since 2015.

I love running and am constantly striving to find a balance between it and my diabetes management.

I am expecting my first child September of 2017!
